The American Eskimo Dog, developed in the United States, is a small to medium sized breed of dogs of the Spitz type known for its stark white to cream-colored coat.

The American Eskimo is one of the Spitz families of Nordic breeds. They are closely related to the white German Spitz. European immigrants brought their Spitz pets with them to the United States, especially New York, in the early 1900s, “all of them descended from the larger German Spitz, the Keeshond, the white Pomeranian, and the Italian Spitz, the Volpino Italiano. After World War I, the small Spitz dogs came to the attention of the American public when the dogs became popular entertainers in the American circus. In 1917, the Cooper Brother’s Railroad Circus featured the dogs. A dog named Stout’s Pal Pierre was famous for walking a tightrope with the Barnum and Bailey Circus in the 1930s. Due to the popularity of the circus dogs, many of today’s American Eskimo Dogs can trace their lineage back to these circus dogs. The breed was first officially recognized as the “American Eskimo” as early as 1919 by the American United Kennel Club (UKC), and the first written record and history of the breed was printed in 1958 by the UKC.Their kennel name was “American Eskimo” which became the name of the breed. The American Eskimo was spread throughout the United States by the Barnum and Bailey Circus. Stout’s Pal Pierre was the first dog ever to walk a tight rope. The North American Eskimo Dog Association was formed in 1969, and the studbook was closed. The American Eskimo Dog Club of America formed in 1985 for the purpose of achieving AKC recognition.

The American Eskimo is a beautiful, snowy white Spitz-type dog which looks like a miniature Samoyed. It has erect triangular-shaped ears, and a heavily plumed tail curled over the back. Its neck is well carried and the topline good and level. Good legs and feet allow the Eskie to trot with bold energetic action. The white double coat consists of a short, dense undercoat, with a longer guard hair growing through it forming the outer coat, which is straight with no curl or wave. The coat is thicker and longer around the neck and chest forming a lion-like ruff, which is more noticeable on dogs than on bitches. The rump and hind legs down to the hocks are also covered with thicker, longer hair forming the characteristic breeches. The richly plumed tail is carried loosely on the back.

The American Eskimo Dog, a loving companion dog, presents a picture of strength and agility, alertness and beauty. The Eskie is highly intelligent, eager to please, very active, has lots of energy, and moderately independent. At home, these lively dogs make excellent watchdogs, barking to announce the presence of strangers. The Eskie can be protective of its home and family, but in general they will not threaten to attack or bite a person unless provoked. As with all dogs, behavior is partially inherited and partially trained. It is very important for these dogs to get the love, affection and attention they crave. These dogs thrive on having something to do. When an American Eskimo is left to its own devices for too long, they can become a little noisy and even a bit destructive. When proper exercise is a part of routine, destructive tendencies tend to be kept in check rather well.

It is said that no other purebred northern breed dog can compete with the Alaskan Husky in racing speed. The Alaskan Husky is basically a mixed-breed dog, in which northern or husky-type ancestry, such as the Siberian Husky or the traditional Alaskan village dog, predominates.

The history of the Alaskan Husky Dog really began with the Gold Rushes of the late nineteenth century; sled and draft dogs used by miners of that era were typically heavy draft dogs with obvious Saint Bernard ancestry. The importation into Alaska of dogs from across the Bering Strait in Siberia in 1908 and subsequent years changed Alaskan sled dogs radically and permanently towards a smaller dog with lighter weight and much greater speed. With the increasing prevalence of motorized winter transport in the mid twentieth century, working sled dogs became less common in the northern villages. The Alaskan sled dog experienced a revival in the 1970s. George Attla, a Native Alaskan from the village of Huslia, was largely responsible for this. Many successful racing dogs today trace their lineage back to Attla dogs.

Alaskan Huskies are proficient sled dogs that are usually larger and leaner than Siberian Huskies. They have long, muscular legs and a substantial tuck-up. Their coats are short or medium in length, and they are usually not as dense as those of the northern purebreds. The color and markings on this breed’s coat will totally vary. The shorter coat length is governed by the need for effective heat dissipation while racing.

Predominately bred for work, Alaskan Huskies are intelligent, trainable, and have an independent streak. Gentle and playful, this cheerful dog is very fond of his or her family. A puppy at heart, they are clever, sociable and loving, easy-going and docile. Though they do generally have a lot of energy, especially as puppies. Good with children and friendly with strangers, they are not watchdogs, for they bark little and love everyone. They are willful and stubborn, but also very gentle and kind. They have a cheerful disposition, and they make very loving pets. They are especially good with children and social with strangers. They are laid-back, clever, and docile. Sometimes prone to getting bored or lonely, an Alaskan Husky needs plenty of companionship and a patient trainer. Alaskan Huskies generally make excellent companions, as long as an owner is understanding and dedicated of the breed.

The Pomeranian, known as Pom, is a breed of dog of the Spitz type, named for the Pomerania region in Central Europe and classed as a toy dog breed because of its small size.

Originally, the larger version of the Pomeranian was an able herder. Developed in the Prussian region of Pomerania, the Pomeranian was originally descended from the ancient Spitz breeds of the far north which were brought to Europe and employed to herd sheep. The Pom ancestors weighed up to 30 pounds. Marie Antoinette, Emile Zola and Mozart all owned Pomeranians. In the late 1800′s Queen Victoria became a Pomeranian fancier, and established her own kennel for their breeding.Because Queen Victoria preferred smaller dogs, many breeders began selecting for smaller size. Sheepskin Boots Now the Pomeranian has been bred down from his original size to customary 4-5 pounds. The Pomeranian’s intelligence and talent for showmanship have also made him a superior circus performer. Today’s Pomeranian is primarily a loving companion and beautiful show dog. Some of the Pom’s talents include: watchdog, agility and perfor.

Pomeranian looks just like a tiny fox. They are small dogs. The Pomeranian has soft and fluffy fur. Their thick, fluffy tails fan over their backs. When born, the tails of Pomeranians are straight or slightly curved. It usually takes a Pomeranian’s tail 1-3 months to curve over its back. Their teeth come to a scissor bite and they have almond shaped eyes. A Pomeranian’s fur can be many different colors including white, tan, black, brown, orange, sable, wolf, or white with colored markings.

The Pomeranian is an extrovert, exhibiting great intelligence and a vivacious spirit, making him a great companion dog as well as a competitive show dog. Because of their outgoing temperaments, they can be very good family dogs with the right training. Due to their small size they don’t require much exercise, but are an energetic breed that needs attention from their people frequently. They possess a thick double coat, which needs to be brushed on a regular basis.

The Pointer, often called the English Pointer, is is powerful, graceful and aristocratic belonging to gun dogs.It is the most popular pointing dog in the world. You can get all useful information from this article.

Pointers were bred to work with hunters. In the past they were sometimes used in combination with a retriever, to point out the game for the hunter. Pointers were also used as falconer’s dogs. As early as the 17th century, sportsmen used Pointers to locate hares and then Greyhounds to chase them. Most of the development of the English Pointer was undertaken by the breeder William Arkwright at the end if the 18th century. An excellent locator the Pointer was crossed with the old Spanish Pointer and a lighter-boned variety of Foxhound, Greyhounds, Bloodhounds and Spaniels providing a combination of speed and setting skills. Crosses with setters gave a more receptive response to training and made them less inclined to try to catch the game. The Pointer proved to be an exceptional dog for wing shooting and Pointers became popular for recreational hunting on large, wealthy estates. Two pointers, referred to as a brace, were generally used so that the hunter could locate the bird precisely by crossreferencing the dogs ‘ points ‘. The Pointer was first Registered by the American Kennel Club in 1879.

The Pointer is bred primarily for sport afield. It carries its head proudly. The pointer has an alert expression and a well-muscled, athletic body. The nose is set higher than the rest of the muzzle. The stop is well-defined. Its upper lip is full but not slack. The eyes are hazel or chestnut depending on the color of the coat. The medium-sized ears are pendant and somewhat pointed. The teeth should form a level or scissors bite. The neck is long. The tail is straight and tapered and is never docked. The feet are oval. Dewclaw removal on the front legs is optional. The short, sleek, shiny coat comes in primarily white, but may be liver, lemon, black or orange, either solid, patched or speckled. Tri-colored is also permitted. The nose should be the same color as the marking on the coat.

The Pointer’s even temperament and alert good sense make him a congenial companion both in the field and in the home. He should be dignified and should never show timidity toward man or dog. Pointers are very good with children, although young children and a clumsy young Pointer are often not the best combination. While Pointers were bred to be a hunting dog, they are perfectly content given adequate exercise in a non-hunting home. Since they are a galloping breed, regular exercise is important for them, as it is for all sporting breeds. A securely fenced yard is a must to keep a Pointer safe since they are bred to hunt a good distance from their person. They typically do best indoors when they are left for the day.

Boston Terrier ,also called the Boston bull, is well known for its intelligence, gentle nature, and sweet attitude. This post will be helpful for you to know more details about Boston Terrier.

The Boston Terrier is one of the few breeds that was “Made in the USA.”The original Boston Terriers were a cross between the English Bulldog and now extinct English White Terrier. Around 1865, the coachmen employed by the wealthy people of Boston began to interbreed some of these fine dogs owned by their employers. One of these crosses, between an English White Terrier and an English Bulldog resulted in a dog named Hooper’s Judge. Judge weighed over 30 pounds . he was bred down in size with a smaller female and one of those male pups was bred to yet a smaller female. Their offspring interbred with one or more French Bulldogs, providing the foundation for the Boston Terrier. By 1889 the breed had become sufficiently popular in Boston that fanciers formed the American Bull Terrier Club, but this proposed name for the breed was not well received by the Bull Terrier Fanciers. The breeds nickname, roundheads, was similarly inappropriate. Shortly after, the breed was named the Boston Terrier after its birthplace. The breed was recognized by the AKC in 1893. It was first shown in Boston in 1870.

The Boston Terrier is a lively, highly intelligent, smooth coated, short-headed, compactly built, short-tailed, well balanced dog, brindle, seal or black in color and evenly marked with white. The head is in proportion to the size of the dog and the expression indicates a high degree of intelligence. The body is rather short and well knit, the limbs strong and neatly turned, the tail is short and no feature is so prominent that the dog appears badly proportioned. Its hair is short, brilliant, and of a fine texture that comes in brindle and white or black and white and some are born brown & white.

The Boston Terrier is gentle, alert, very intelligent, well-mannered and enthusiastic. It is a lifelong friend and a loving companionthat thar gets along well with everyone, from their master and owners to the family kids, the family pets, the cat next door, all visitors, and unfortunately even strangers. Boston Terriers can make wonderful pets, but it is important for owners to provide the right environment and the right type of safe, secure, and happy home for these dogs. Remember, a Boston Terrier is an indoor dog that needs bags of love, attention, and devotion from his human family. They generally get along well with non-canine pets. Without proper leadership from humans communicating to the dog what is acceptable behavior and what is not, they can become dominant and may fight with other dogs. These little dogs may be difficult to housebreak.

Shetland Sheepdog is known as a amall herding dog. In fact, they are intelligent, family oriented dogs that can be as happy in an apartment in a city as in a house in the country. Here I want to share some information about it with you.

The Sheltie came from the Shetland Islands off the north coast of mainland Scotland. It crossed with the Icelandic Yakkin, a small island dog (now no longer recognized) brought over in the boats of fishermen. By 1700, the breed was completely developed. For centuries these little dogs were used to herd and guard the sheep flocks of the Shetlands, those rugged islands off the Scottish coast where many of the animals are rather small in stature. The Shetland Sheepdog was first recognized in England in 1909 by the English Kennel Club and called Badenock Rose, and first registered in the United Stated in 1911 by the American Kennel Club.

The Shetland Sheepdog is a small, alert, rough-coated, longhaired working dog. It is double-coated for warmth and weather-proofing; the long, flowing outer coat repels the cold rain and blocks the wind, and the soft undercoat insulates the skin. The legs and long tail are feathered, and the hair on the face and feet is smooth. The tail should reach to the hock. The almond-shaped eyes are generally dark, except in blue merle dogs where they may be blue or merle color.

The Shetland Sheepdog is an outstanding companion dog and is intensely loyal. It is lively, intelligent, trainable, and willing to please and obey. Shelties are loving, loyal, and affectionate with their family, but are naturally aloof with strangers. As a herding dog, they can do the same jod as other herding dogs nad can be inclined to bark at and herd people. The breed adapts well to apartment and condominium living as long as it receives sufficient mental and physical exercise. They are generally healthy and hardy, generally even-tempered, and unusually bright and willing to please. The Shetland Sheepdog is a good dog for novice dog owners.

Beagle is a kind of smart hunting dogs.We can see them in the movies. If you are interested in this dog breed, you can visit my blog there offer many useful informations.

The beaglr is from England. Many years ago, they were a popular hunting dog often used as part of a pack to hunt out hares, pheasant and quail. Beaglrs were very popular in England, and its excellent sense of smell made it a firm favorite with hunting parties. The breed also enjoyed huge popularity in the United States , where in the 1950s it was the most popular breed in the country. These days, the beagle is a loving and popular family dog, but sadly is also a bred often used in medical experimentation. The breed was first registered by the American Kennel Club in 1885.

The beagle dog has a square set muzzle and jaw, with quite a broad nose, and quite a handsome face and a sleek, easy-care, short coat, which can come in any hound color, for example, tri-color, black and tan, red and white, orange and white, or lemon and white. The coat is close, hard and of medium length. The beagle looks like a small English Foxhound. The skull is broad and slightly rounded, and the muzzle is straight and square. The feet are round and strong. The black nose has full nostrils for scenting. The long, wide ears are pendant. The brown or hazel eyes have a characteristic pleading expression. The tail is carried gaily, but never curled over the back.

The beagle has a warm, friendly disposition, and is both a loyal and brave dog. They are lively, playful and curious, which combined with their pleasant personalities makes them excellent family pets both entertaining and loving.Excellent with children and generally good with other dogs, but because of their hunting instincts, they should not be trusted with non-canine pets, unless they are socialized with cats and other household animals when they are young. The Beagle is very eager to please, and is very intelligent however training must be consistent as this breed tends to lose interest and focus on something that catches his attention. It will be a perfect pet for children.
