The Pointer, often called the English Pointer, is is powerful, graceful and aristocratic belonging to gun dogs.It is the most popular pointing dog in the world. You can get all useful information from this article.

Pointers were bred to work with hunters. In the past they were sometimes used in combination with a retriever, to point out the game for the hunter. Pointers were also used as falconer’s dogs. As early as the 17th century, sportsmen used Pointers to locate hares and then Greyhounds to chase them. Most of the development of the English Pointer was undertaken by the breeder William Arkwright at the end if the 18th century. An excellent locator the Pointer was crossed with the old Spanish Pointer and a lighter-boned variety of Foxhound, Greyhounds, Bloodhounds and Spaniels providing a combination of speed and setting skills. Crosses with setters gave a more receptive response to training and made them less inclined to try to catch the game. The Pointer proved to be an exceptional dog for wing shooting and Pointers became popular for recreational hunting on large, wealthy estates. Two pointers, referred to as a brace, were generally used so that the hunter could locate the bird precisely by crossreferencing the dogs ‘ points ‘. The Pointer was first Registered by the American Kennel Club in 1879.

The Pointer is bred primarily for sport afield. It carries its head proudly. The pointer has an alert expression and a well-muscled, athletic body. The nose is set higher than the rest of the muzzle. The stop is well-defined. Its upper lip is full but not slack. The eyes are hazel or chestnut depending on the color of the coat. The medium-sized ears are pendant and somewhat pointed. The teeth should form a level or scissors bite. The neck is long. The tail is straight and tapered and is never docked. The feet are oval. Dewclaw removal on the front legs is optional. The short, sleek, shiny coat comes in primarily white, but may be liver, lemon, black or orange, either solid, patched or speckled. Tri-colored is also permitted. The nose should be the same color as the marking on the coat.

The Pointer’s even temperament and alert good sense make him a congenial companion both in the field and in the home. He should be dignified and should never show timidity toward man or dog. Pointers are very good with children, although young children and a clumsy young Pointer are often not the best combination. While Pointers were bred to be a hunting dog, they are perfectly content given adequate exercise in a non-hunting home. Since they are a galloping breed, regular exercise is important for them, as it is for all sporting breeds. A securely fenced yard is a must to keep a Pointer safe since they are bred to hunt a good distance from their person. They typically do best indoors when they are left for the day.

Shetland Sheepdog is known as a amall herding dog. In fact, they are intelligent, family oriented dogs that can be as happy in an apartment in a city as in a house in the country. Here I want to share some information about it with you.

The Sheltie came from the Shetland Islands off the north coast of mainland Scotland. It crossed with the Icelandic Yakkin, a small island dog (now no longer recognized) brought over in the boats of fishermen. By 1700, the breed was completely developed. For centuries these little dogs were used to herd and guard the sheep flocks of the Shetlands, those rugged islands off the Scottish coast where many of the animals are rather small in stature. The Shetland Sheepdog was first recognized in England in 1909 by the English Kennel Club and called Badenock Rose, and first registered in the United Stated in 1911 by the American Kennel Club.

The Shetland Sheepdog is a small, alert, rough-coated, longhaired working dog. It is double-coated for warmth and weather-proofing; the long, flowing outer coat repels the cold rain and blocks the wind, and the soft undercoat insulates the skin. The legs and long tail are feathered, and the hair on the face and feet is smooth. The tail should reach to the hock. The almond-shaped eyes are generally dark, except in blue merle dogs where they may be blue or merle color.

The Shetland Sheepdog is an outstanding companion dog and is intensely loyal. It is lively, intelligent, trainable, and willing to please and obey. Shelties are loving, loyal, and affectionate with their family, but are naturally aloof with strangers. As a herding dog, they can do the same jod as other herding dogs nad can be inclined to bark at and herd people. The breed adapts well to apartment and condominium living as long as it receives sufficient mental and physical exercise. They are generally healthy and hardy, generally even-tempered, and unusually bright and willing to please. The Shetland Sheepdog is a good dog for novice dog owners.

Known for its snow-white hair, Maltese is a famous small breed of toy dog. It is a popular dog for apartment household because they are very active indoors and will do okay without a yard.

The exact origin of Maltese dog breed is unclear. Someone said that they are descended from a Spitz type dog found among the Swiss Lake dwellers and bred down to obtain its small size. But there is also some evidence that the breed originated in Asia and is related to the Tibetan Terrier. The first written document on the existence of this breed of dog was given by the Greek writer Callimachus, around 350 BC. Around the 17th and 18th centuries some breeders decided to “improve” the Maltese breed, by making it smaller still. Linnaeus wrote in 1792 that these dogs were about the size of a squirrel. The breed nearly disappeared and was crossbred with other small dogs such as Poodles and miniature Spaniels. In the early 19th century there were as many as nine different breeds of Maltese dog.Parti-colour and solid colour dogs were accepted in the show ring from 1902 until 1913 in England, and as late as 1950 in Victoria, Australia. However, white Malteses were required to be pure white. Coloured Malteses could be obtained from the south of France.

Maltese has slightly rounded skulls, with a one-finger-wide dome and a black nose that is two finger widths long. The body is compact with the length equaling the height. The drop ears with long hair and very dark eyes, surrounded by darker skin pigmentation. Their noses can fade and become pink or light brown in color without exposure to sunlight. They have an elegant mantle of long, silky hair. The coat is straight, lacks an undercoat, and is pure bright white in color. They are non-shedding. Their luxurious cloak of white is the hallmark of the Maltese.

The Maltese is spirited, lively and playful. Gentle, loving, trusting and devoted to its master. Highly intelligent. Good at learning tricks. Bold and quick to sound the alarm in case of suspicious noises. They are bred to be cuddly companion dogs. They thrive on love and attention. They are extremely lively and playful, and even as a Maltese ages, his or her energy level and playful demeanor remains fairly constant and does not diminish much. They most often will establish a close bond with one person. They do not do well when left alone for extended periods of time. They may be over-protective of their owner, family, and territory, and bark or bite if they perceive a threat. They are a fearless, vigorous, and agile breed. The Maltese commit themselves fully to their owner and families.

What is pug? It is a small breed of dog with a wrinkly, short muzzled face. If you are interested in it, you can visit my site where you can get all its information.

The Pug originates from China. They were prized possessions of the Emperors of China and lived in a most luxurious atmosphere and at times were even guarded by soldiers. The ancient Pug was called Lo-sze or “Foo Dog”. In the pre-Christian era, he Dutch traders brought the Pugs from the east to Holland and to England. English breeded more refined Pug. This little dog was enjoyed by many Monarchs of Europe. The American Kennel Club first recognized the breed in 1885. The Pug Dog Club of America was founded in 1931 and recognized by the AKC that same year. Today it is a favorite with royalty and discerning people all over the world.

How it looks like actually? The Pug has a square, thickset, stocky compact, body, with a sleek, soft coat that comes in apricot, fawn, black and silver – all with a short, flat, black muzzle and velvety ears. Rose shaped ears are preferred. Moles on the cheeks are considered beauty spots. The eyes are prominent, expressive, dark and lustrous. The teeth should meet in a slightly undershot bite. The back is short, with a level topline. Their tail lays in a tight curl, or in the best specimens, a double curl on the back. Their limbs are straight and strong which gives them a jaunty, rolling gait that is quite distinctive.

How about its temper? Pugs are perky, rambunctious and loyal, affectionate and loving, with a happy disposition. They are playful and charming. Clever and mischievous – with a heart-winning personality. They are sensitive to the tone of a human voice, so harsh punishment is generally unnecessary. While Pugs usually get along well with other dogs and pets, they generally prefer the company of humans and require a great deal of human attention. They love being part of the family. Pugs are great watch dogs, playful companions for children and will happily curl up on your lap for a nap.
